How often do we witness punk bands that seem to rebirth effortless clones of themselves when their previous projects disband? It seems unfamiliar to catch a band that challenge, and progress with their sound. The now expired Freak Vibe has reformed with their new vocalist, Gabe Gutierrez as L.I. (aka Lysol). Gabe's earnest vocals are a breathe of fresh air from a sound that was beginning to be pastiche of a signature Australian howl that once co-existed within the band. The swampy, reverb drenched guitar of Chad Bucklew are still accompanied by the pummeling and driving rhythm section of Xtine Lundberg and Anthony Gaviria who keep locked as Gabe expels his words, and give Chad room to displace his breaking fuzzed out tone. The sound still take odes to the 60's and 70's, but now with bottled intensity of the early 80's. The soundtrack of overtly caffeinated, chain smoking freaks.

Kid Flicks is the music project started by greek producer and songwriter Nickos Devisis. Highly inuenced by the bright side of contemporary athenian life, multiculturalism and the internet culture, Kid Flicks created a unique sound which draws from various genres and styles. Carter Tutti give §nflesh' a surprisingly gentle treatment, and Wrangler's previously released version of nti Body' (Anti Body EP, May 2014) contrasts the unmistakable snarls of Stephen Mallinder (Cabaret Voltaire) with production by Benge (John Foxx and The Maths) and Phil Winter (Tuung). Vanishing (Tesla Tapes) featuring Gareth Smith's vocals alongside members of Gnod and Warm Widow, deliver a staggering re-vocalisation of till Life'. Moving into clubbier modes, Disc 2 spins into Dave Clarke's high-energy mix of xorcise' (also released on Charcoal Eyes on N.E.W.S in April 2016), and Polish producer, Zamilska, chills [1]elly of the Beast' right down to its knuckles. Blanck Mass' eastern-tinged remix of till Life' winds the tempo down further into I Speak Machine's (Tara Busch) shimmering, analogue re-imagining of nti Body' (also previously released on Anti Body EP), before Lone Taxidermist's (Natalie Sharp and Phil Winter of Tunng) version of remonition' delicately snuffs out the flame.

Instrumental album, the Stones Throw debut from Frankie Reyes, the alias of Gabriel Reyes-Whittaker who also records as GB (Gifted & Blessed). The album is comprised mostly of popular latin standards from the mid-twentieth century, the source material was reworked by Reyes under an approach he?s dubbed ''technoindigenous studies'' which explores his Puerto Rican heritage through modern electronics. The inspiration for Boleros Valses y Mas formed when Los Angeles radio collective Dublab invited Gabriel to participate in an event themed specifically around Latin American modernism. By using audio-to-MIDI and sheet music-to-MIDI processing Gabriel has recontextualized these popular tracks easily overheard while visiting any of Los Angeles? predominantly Latino neighborhoods with a single Oberheim synthesizer. By removing the lyrics, the emphasis remains on the melodic, harmonic and rhythmic aspects of these classics, many still sung by Latin American artists today

Although the band is entirely French in its nationality and stylistically in its brand of black metal, Darvulia likely derives its name from the Hungarian witch, Anna Darvulia, a servant of the infamous Elizabeth Bathory. Nuclear War Now's admiration of Darvulia's work extends back to the band's second full-length album from 2005, entitled "L'Alliance des Venins," which NWN! has credited as being a masterpiece of French black metal. Despite the fact that it has been somewhat overshadowed by the band's sophomore effort, Darvulia's third album, "Mysticisme Macabre," follows the same recipe established by its predecessor five years prior to the latter album's original CD release by Battlesk'rs Productions in 2010. Another six years later, "Mysticisme Macabre" now receives its first release on vinyl LP format, courtesy of a joint endeavor between Nuclear War Now! and Battlesk'rs Productions.

Hey, What's That You Say was recorded and released in 1973, three years ahead of the group's debut album but was not included. Original copies are rare and have exchanged hands for £50. The song was later covered by Brother To Brother. For this reissue we have changed the € b' side to Always There, making this rendition of the Ronnie Laws classic the group are best known for available on 7 for the first time. It's taken from the 1976 album Wood, Brass & Steel reissued on LP by Soul Brother Records Members of Wood, Brass & Steel include Doug Winbush who would later play with the Sugarhill Gang, Grandmaster Flash, Dayton and George Clinton alongside recording his own solo albums. He and some other members of the group would also later record as Brand New Funk.

In 1994, Portland's idiosyncratic punk pop group Hazel and hushed indie band Heatmiser were providing a less aggravated alternative to the big riffs and howling frontmen of their grunge peers in Seattle. Both bands had strong albums that helped highlight the diversity of Northwest's rock scene, and both bands had guitarists that were dabbling in solo material. Heatmiser's Elliott Smith had just released his critically acclaimed album Roman Candle, and Hazel's Pete Krebs was preparing his debut for Cavity Search Records. It's no surprise that the tiny burgeoning indie label Slo-Mo Records pounced on the opportunity to release a split 7" by these developing talents. Smith's "No Confidence Man" is a classic example of his early, stripped-down heartbroken ballads while Krebs' "Shytown" is a gorgeous acoustic number that deftly navigates between somber passages and the buoyant melodies he was known for in his work with Hazel.
