Black vinyl edition! BoySetsFire has been a band for nearly two decades. In that time we have played hundreds of shows to anyone that would watch us, from basements to festival audiences. We lived through the terror of rap‐rock, the tyranny of nu‐metal, and the dark days of pop‐punk. We were around before the internet. Truth. We made demo tapes. We have recorded 4 LPs, EPs, CDs, and even a Cassingle. We have played Rookie over 1,000 times. We have fallen off more stages than most people have stood on. We have been signed and dropped and signed and dropped. Frankly, most would have given up years ago. We tried. Like the most well‐meaning addict we swore it off, made our amends, and tried to rebuild our lives without BoySetsFire. But the lure was too much. We soon found ourselves in the same situations making the same decisions that lead to so much pain. Before we knew it we were on a reunion tour. It was amazing. Then we held our breath, crossed our fingers and started writing songs. What came out was music that was even more intense, more fragile, and more brutal than anything we had done before. Even though to my disappointment there was almost no dubstep. In fact, the writing was so rewarding we decided to keep on writing... and writing... and writing. So we have a brand new member (Dan Pelic), an old member coming back (Robert Ehrenbrand), a long‐time friend officially joining (Rev. Chris Rakus) and the three original gray hairs Chad Istvan, Nathan Gray and Joshua Latshaw playing together

Grinding his way up the ranks of the American underground electronic scene, Los Angeles native and Austin resident José Cota makes his long awaited solo debut as SSLEEPERHOLD. Cota is best known for his work as a member of the now defunct Medio Mutante, whose 2008 12" Inestable (released on Minimal Wave sub label Cititrax), gave the band a well deserved cult following. Medio's contemporary take on classic minimal synth music through the use of analog hardware became a powerful and bold statement amidst the modern resurgence of electronic music. Now as a solo artist, SSLEEPERHOLD introduces a fresh and heavy approach to synth based composition. Ruleth proclaims its unique voice through immense bass lines and brutal percussion punctuated by invasions of tape manipulation and the sounds of buckling steel. After the dust had settled from the dissipation of Medio Mutante, Cota was left to collect himself artistically. SSLEEPERHOLD is the result of a distinct effort to establish a new plateau of inward focus and expression. Drawing on a variety of genres, Ruleth makes an instant connection to dark wave, industrial, and 80's horror scores, but the contemporary forces at work make it difficult to describe the album in such "vintage" terms. Slow and aggressive, Ruleth finds Cota exploring half-time swing rhythms, heavy metal breakdowns, and growling oscillators that creep ever so slightly in and out of tune. Filters gradually pry open to mimic guitar riffs chugging along in drop-D syncopation with the bass lines, while double-pedal kick drums deliver skull pounding accents over complex synth sequences. Busy "dirty south" style high-hat phrasing along with cassette collage and television-static also make up a significant part of the distinct SSLEEPERHOLD lexicon. This is undoubtedly electronic dance music, but one could just as easily be tempted to head bang or free-style.

Love, Lunatics & Spacehips - a title like a road movie by Jim Jarmusch. Stony desert landscapes, surreal rock formations and right in the centre some diner with a hand full of strange figures looking for something. It's not quite clear what exactly they are looking for - maybe for freedom, maybe love, maybe UFOs, maybe just for some human company. In the background there is a band playing the matching soundtrack to this setting. Such or similar images might come to someone's mind when looking at the artwork which decorates the debut album of Palace Fever. The artwork's atmosphere is continued by the tracks on Palace Fever Sing About Love, Lunatics & Spaceships. Starting with songs that let you scent the rebellious smell of freedom (You Can't Have It All, Mexico By UFO, Wheels ) to tracks, that make you think of a former love affair (When The Winter Comes, There Ain't No Right Way) and memories full of past adventures (Flying Saucer, A Bag Full Of Memories) - the album keeps what is promised by the artwork. That all is pulled together by Palace Fever's fine sense for great melodies and subtle weirdness.
