Сначала хорошая новость: Терье Рыпдал наконец-то представил новую запись после более чем десятилетнего перерыва! Еще более приятная новость: для записи альбома он собрал новую интересную группу. И самая лучшая новость: 72-летний музыкант импровизирует на "Conspiracy" так же мощно и изобретательно, как в середине 1970-х годов на своих новаторских альбомах ECM "Whenever I Seem To Be Farway", "Odyssey" и "Waves", когда он смело исследовал звуковые возможности электрогитары. Напомним, что свои последние записи для ECM Рыпдаль сделал в 2009 году. альбом "Crime Scene" был сделан в мае того же года на фестивале Nattjazz в Бергене и вышел в 2010 году, а альбом "Melodic Warrior", выпущенный в 2013 году, содержал записи 2003 и 2009 годов. После этого вокруг Терье Рюпдаля стало тихо. Теперь он наконец-то нарушил это молчание, выпустив альбом "Conspiracy".

В одноименной группе он нашел идеального соучастника в лице клавишника Столе Сторлоккена, с которым записал альбом под руководством Манфреда Айхера в студии Rainbow в Осло в феврале 2019 года.

Ранее Сторлоккен участвовал в работе над альбомами Rypdal "Vossabrygg" и "Crime Scene". На барабанах - Пол Таусен, который играл на первых трех альбомах басиста Арильда Андерсена на ECM в 1970-х годах, а также сопровождал Кетиля Бьёрнстада в течение пятнадцати лет. Группу дополняет молодой бас-гитарист Эндре Харейде Халльре.

In May 2018 Hedvig received an invitation from Vossajazz - the much loved annual festival established in 1973 - to write the commission work for 2019. This came at the right time, she had been thinking about writing for a bigger group than the trio, and this would be a good opportunity. To make it suitable for album release the full festival version was edited, sharpened and recorded from scratch in Amper Tone studio in Oslo. And this stunning album is the result! In addition to Hedvig on guitar, the line-up includes powerhouse drummer Torstein Lofthus (Elephant9) and percussionist Ole Mofjell, the youngest member, but with solid experience from the European improvisation scene. Keyboard duties are handled by Marte Eberson, probably most known from her five years with Highasakite, and Erlend Slettevoll (The Core and supergroup Grand General, Rune Grammofon 2013). Hedvig first met trumpeter Susana Santos Silva in Mats Gustafsson's NU-ensemble. This three women, three men lineup defies the general notion of progressive jazz as being a typically male activity. Maybe this is why it's so multifaceted, rich on textures and melodically strong? Being the riffmeister Hedvig truly is, she has of course found room for some really strong ones, as well as some subtle and powerful soloing.

“Listen as if you were being told a secret” - Federico FelliniA companion piece to 2018’s Listening To Pictures, this second volume in the pentimento series presents eight new tracks by the music visionary, continuing his lifelong exploration of the possibilities of recombination and musical gene-splicing. Pentimento is defined as the “reappearance in a painting of earlier images, forms, or strokes that have been changed and painted over” and this is evident in the innovative production style that ‘paints with sound’ using overlapping nuances to create an undefinable and intoxicating new palette.In classic Hassell fashion, the title can be interpreted in a myriad of ways, but perhaps the most pertinent at the moment is the human instinct to sing and play through a rain of difficulties. A future blues of indeterminate and ever-shifting shape. The album is buffered by two 8-minute plus epics at the beginning and the end - the hypnotic “Fearless” with it’s metronomic, almost Can-like rhythm, and blurry, noir-ish texture of sound emerging like car headlights from the fog; mirrored at the end of the record by the beautiful sci-fi lullaby of “Timeless”, a track with a gaseous, billowing quality as electronic clicks and bubbles float over a landscape of shimmering, glacially paced complexity. The bridge between those two worlds is no less compelling, from the frantic, spidery IDM sketch of “Reykjavik” to the collapsed-time ballad of “Unknown Wish”. Whilst containing seeds of classic ‘fourth world’ fusion, this record finds the artist still questing to create new forms and mutations of music, a thrilling window into what music could sound like in a world to come.
