"Я человек мира, и говорят, что я силен, / Но сердце мое тяжело, и надежда моя ушла", - поет Фредди Меркьюри в песне Mother Love в сентябре 1991 г., всего за два месяца до своей трагической гибели. Хотя оставшиеся участники группы знают о желании Меркьюри выпустить еще один альбом, проходит четыре года, прежде чем 6 ноября 1995 года они наконец находят в себе силы выпустить Made In Heaven, последний альбом Queen в оригинальном составе. В результате получилась буквально райская пластинка, которая до сих пор дышит горько-сладкой атмосферой своего времени.

Когда в феврале 1991 года вышел альбом Innuendo, Фредди Меркьюри уже находился в тисках СПИДа. Исключительный музыкант, тем не менее, не упускает возможности и дальше приезжать в Монтрё, в собственную студию Queen Mountain Studios, чтобы записать еще больше песен. Гитарист Брайан Мэй вспоминает: "Некоторое время мы как бы жили в студии, и как только он позвонил и сказал, что может приехать на пару часов, мы захотели использовать это по максимуму"

Для того чтобы собрать как можно больше материала, группа впервые отходит от своего обычного стиля работы: вместо того чтобы создавать полные инструментальные версии перед вокальными записями, Фредди записывает черновые варианты запланированных песен. Мэю певец говорит: "Напиши мне что-нибудь. Продолжай давать мне слова. Я буду петь" И вот, несмотря на эмоциональную нагрузку, квартет берет себя в руки, чтобы исполнить желание своего друга и соратника.

Такие песни, как A Winter's Tale и You Don't Fool Me, были написаны еще при жизни Фредди; Брайану Мэю пришлось взять на себя исполнение последнего куплета Mother Love, поскольку фронтмен был уже слишком плох для этого. Его смерть 24 ноября 1991 года тяжело ударила по группе. Роджер Тейлор признается: "Я так и не смог с этим смириться. Никто из нас не смог. This album was recorded from September 1985 to March 1986, at Musicland Studios in Munich, at Mountain Studios in Montreux, and at Townhouse Studios in London. Orchestra was recorded at Abbey Road Studios in London in early 1986. Original CD versions featured "extra magical ingredients" in the form of three bonus tracks not available on vinyl or tape (and were the band's first "DDD" recordings). The same year this was released, the entire Queen back catalogue was reissued on CD for the first time by EMI. This release was reissued once again on CD and tape in remastered form in 1991 for the US and Canadian market on Hollywood Records, using different non-album tracks and remixes not included in the original versions. Parlophone also reissued the remastered versions in 1993/1994, and subsequently, several newly remastered versions were issued. In 2009, the entire back catalogue of Queen studio albums was remastered and re-released again on heavyweight vinyl, with another batch of digital remasters following in 2011 to commemorate Queen's 40th anniversary and their signing to Island Records.

Sloppy in conception, and even sometimes in the playing, Let It Be often gets a bad rap. Unfairly, as it's often as charming, well written, and (oh yeah) rocking as the Beatles' "better" albums; it's also more outright fun than Abbey Road, the masterpiece it followed into the stores.
