Limited pressing of 600 copies - Liner notes from Paul Collins - Bonus download of "She Says (Drums Version)", an outtake from the One Night sessions. Recorded in the twilight of 1987 and released only in Europe, One Night was the fourth full-length release by power-pop legends the Paul Collins' Beat. Recorded in San Francisco by long-time Van Morrison band member David Hayes, the album saw Collins and co. enhancing their trademark melodies with acoustic arrangements. One Night would prove to be a temporary swan song for the Beat, and the last album to feature original bassist/co-songwriter Steven Huff;
by the early '90s, Collins had struck out on his own, casting off his band's moniker until 2006's Flying High. To celebrate the first-ever American release of One Night, Frodis Records has lovingly remastered the album from Paul's original quarter-inch masters.

London. The dawn of the new Millenium. The Britpop party is over and the UK music scene is suffering from a severe hangover. The promise that "Things Can Only Get Better" now seems like a distant dream. Then, as if from nowhere, The Parkinsons burst onto the scene and give the music business a shot in the arm and a kick up the arse! Contributing new stamina to punk rock's late-'90s revival, the Portuguese squad the Parkinsons eventually became the sweeties of most of the British press -- a press that did not hesitate to name the band as one of the "next big thing" However, and before all the hype,the band's roots started to develop in the beginning of the '90s, when guitarist Victor Torpedo and bassist Pedro Chau managed to secure a record deal with U.S.-based Elevator Music for their band, the Tedio Boys. After recording one album for the label and playing several tours across the States, the crew decided to relocate to London to search for the ultimate punk inspiration alongside singer Afonso Pinto. In London, the group were then joined by Scottish drummer Chris Low, formerly of the Apostles. It was not long before the Portuguese/Scottish band became better known for their raving and delirious live performances, propelling them to the music media's front pages. In 2002, the group recorded their first record, the EP A Long Way to Nowhere released trough the Fierce Panda record label, which invited exciting reviews from the media, and even more exposure within the Brit alternative music scene. Okzharp and Manthe Ribane return with their second EP "Tell Your Vision", a call and response between Manthe's vocals and Okzharp's production. Both bring their unique energies to the mix, manifesting in a raw confidence of new moods and temperatures that were brought out from their first taste of touring and living on autopilot. The EP's title is a reference to its opener, "Teleported", which was created in Okzharp's car on an exploratory drive through London and inspired by the art and energy they came across. The track opens with a ferocious bass line, with Manthe's rumbling vocals rolling rhythmically over the top. She takes us with her as she lets the music possess her as if dancing;
quickly spitting the vocals back out, urging the listener to "Tell your vision!". A much more gentle and reflective turn comes on second track [1] U'. Okzharp's slow and soft lullaby melody and Manthe's warm and inspiring lyrics tug at the heartstrings. In the upbeat and playful "Maybe This", Manthe's vocals flit between a hum that softly swells over the top of Okzharp's spacey melody, into an energised and bouncing rap. The EP rounds off with the warm anthem "Piki Piki", with the chorus sung in the South African Sepedi dialect. Okzharp's long synth lines draw us in with Manthe's vocals melting and blending into the track. "Piki Piki" has an unmistakably positive vibe, which becomes emphasised when Manthe switches to English, with lyrics that advocate self-affirmation and self-love.

The allfemale lineup on the recording was Harriet Hudson (Circle Pit, Ratsak, Southern Comfort), Harriet Stewart (Sleepless Nights, School of Radiant Living), Annie Llewellyn (Grotto, The Angel & Baby Chain) and Emily Jans (Straightjacket Nation, Bloody Hammer). This record extends on the "muscle and bite" (Evan Minsker, Pitchfork) of their debut 7" on Hozac Records, with a startling leap in the departments of power, precision and overall toughness. No doubt this has to do with powerhouse Emily joining behind the kit, who recorded both this and the forthcoming Straightjacket Nation record while very pregnant! Find another example of this in punk/hardcore/rock 'n' roll history, I dare ya.

‘Motion Set’ is the ninth Major Stars album and their first on Drag City since 2010’s ‘Return To Form’, with ‘Decibels Of Gratitude’ appearing in 2012. Wayne Rogers and Kate Biggar have been crossing axes to head-scrambling effect since the halcyon days of Crystallized Movements in the 1980s. In the 1990s came collaboration with Damon & Naomi in Magic Hour and Wayne Rogers solo records before the debut of Major Stars at Terrastock 1997 - the first of several appearances they eventually made at the now-defunct (and legendary) trips fest. As the years have passed the band has evolved necessarily in their own expanding universe;
since 2005, the Biggar-Rogers guitar duo has become a guitar trio, with original bassist Tom Leonard contributing to the murder of decibels. Vocally as well, Wayne’s lead vocals have given way to a string of she-singers who have brought new dimensions to the Major Stars’ sound. Every Major Stars record responds in one way or another to the one before and to that end ‘Motion Set’ commenced with a blackout-and-start-again moment: the pulsing energy of ‘Alert’, with a view towards making more super-happy short blues rock songs. Of course, things happen along the assembly line;
the title track was played for over two years and thrown away at least once before revisitation, revitalization and recording finally happened. Now, stripped down to a mood and built back to a towering frenzy it’s the kind of song to name an album after. In a band built to achieve moments of six-string nirvana, vocalist Hayley Thompson-King provides a sufficiently versatile presence to span the crunching, ever-spiralling trinity of Biggar, Leonard and Rogers;
with sirenesque flights, a reedy, Nico-like introspection and gritty, pugnacious flourishes to match the full complement of riffs being flung about. Major Stars have been capturing and distilling lightning into bottles for a couple of decades, with each record reaching beyond what they know and delighting in what feels good to locate their desire for exploration, obliteration and rock in the present moment. ‘Motion Set’ nullifies the past while standing on its vanishing shoulders, reaching ever beyond.

It kick-started me to start thinking about song writing again and then all of a sudden 'No Ghost' had started to write itself . Here, it is coupled with urder Park', both deal directly with a death and look for a way to connect with a (departed) spirit. First single ules of Love' puts the cyclical theme into microcosm, Sukie setting herself the challenge to write the cycle of a whole relationship - beginning, middle, end - in three and a half minutes. The album's touchstone is its significantly upbeat title track and opener, 'Back to the Sea' . It is the emotional response to 'Being in the hospital room when my father died' - understandably a pivotal moment. On a similar redemptive level is 'I Am Your Home', "a song to myself, a reconnection with yourself after a bout of self destruction," says Sukie. " Sukie Smith began her acting career working with Nic Roeg (The Witches) Mike Newell (A Summer Story) and on improvised/collaborative films like Mike Leigh's Topsy Turvy and with Neil Hunter & Tom Hunsinger (Lawless Heart) before moving into music with her acclaimed 2007 debut 'In Case of Emergency' (Reveal Records)

While Last of the Easy Riders formed last summer in Denver, the band of sonic nomads each converged high in the Rocky Mountains individually from various parts of the country. Even with dissimilar backgrounds, each of the musicians shared one common vision: to create cosmic rock 'n' roll. The outcome is the band's naturally formulated blend of raw Midwestern treble and passionate deepsouth rhythm and bass. That acoustic integrity shines bright on the group's gutsy selftitled debut EP on Agitated Records. Much like their iconic heroes in bygone countryrock outfits like The Byrds and The Band, each member contributes song credits to the new disc. The band comprises guitarist/vocalist, Christopher Minarik, Mitch Mitchum (drums, vocals), Daniel Duggan (bass, vocals) and guitarist, Bradley T Grear. "It's what makes us dynamic - four individual songwriters playing in one band," said Minarik, who refers to Last of the Easy Riders as "southwestern psychrock." The earthy, inspired track list projects the tranquility of the outdoors, or perhaps hazily driving through Joshua Tree National Park with the windows down, while a CCR cassette warmly hums in the background. It's an honest, but optimistic batch of original tunes. "It conveys the aspect of moving across the country," Minarik added. "Or overcoming past experiences and crossing into the next stages of modern adulthood." And even though this freshly pressed EP was recorded earlier this year in a remote cabin in Rollinsville, Colorado - the production and arrangements throwback to the golden days of 0s American music - back when Buck Owens still ruled Bakersfield and Gram Parsons still had a chance.

He released two obscure but widely acclaimed minimal synth cassette albums in the early eighties, creating a dark and atmospheric sound, using lo-fi overdubbing techniques with a Korg MS-10, a monophonic Yamaha synth, a Crumar Trilogy keyboard, a Sound Master SR-88 rhtyhm box, a Roland TR-606 drum machine, tapeloops and an electric guitar. His debut album "Me Is" (1983) has become a worldwide collector's item, containing his best-known tracks "Beauty Queen" and "Erotic Fantaseesz". On his second album "Cicatrice" (1964), Kreft evoked images of an apocalyptic society full of fear, paranoia and destruction. Lagrange Point is a wholly unique specimen for the Famicom and Ship to Shore is proud to present the first ever official Western release of the score. Composed by the legendary Konami Kukeiha Club, with some input from Japanese recording artist Akio Dobashi (REBECCA), the score makes full use of the aforementioned VRC7 to create an incredibly atmospheric experience. You've certainly never heard your Famicom, or your turntable, emit sounds like this!
