The code was written to quantize Nord’s music and that information was used to manipulate magnetic particles creating abstract magnetic compositions to visualize the unique sound of the band. The unique magnetic graphics were used in the design process creating a pulsating and live visual interpretation of Nord’s music.

Mythra is one these N.W.O.B.H.M. bands that defined modern metal even though they had released only one EP. The full of energy and adrenaline compositions, the cult status, the hard to find copies and mostly the speed element that was something innovating and mostly influential for the back then new generation on the other side of the Atlantic Ocean made Mythra, amongst others, something like proto-speed band that gave birth to thrash Metal after a couple of years. The majority of my generation actually heard for the first time Mythra’s songs in 1998 when ‘Death And Destiny’ LP was released via British Steel Records, a time certainly before the real revival of N.W.O.B.H.M. that takes hold for almost a decade right now. But the band was originally formed 20 years ago, in South Shields England in 1978. Their mythical EP entitled ‘Death And Destiny’ (originally pressed in 1979 by Guardian Records and re-pressed by Street Beat Records in 1980) it is rumored to be pressed in 20,000 copies (sold out), a number definitely remarkable if it is true. In 2003, an unreleased album entitled ‘The Darkener’ that was never really meant to be released in the first place as the songs were never recorded professionally and it is actually a collection of demos that have been circulated to a lucky few worldwide, was the only time we ever heard something from Mythra. So ‘Still Burning’ is literally their debut full length almost 40 years after their formation! Once again, as in many bands from their glory days, the combination anthology album and participation on a revival/nostalgic festival was the sign that Mythra are coming with new recordings! In 2015, Mythra performed live at Newcastle’s Brofest and the Keep It True festival in Germany and this was followed by the release of ‘Warriors Of Time’, an anthology which featured many of their of classic tracks recorded between 1979 and 1982 along with five new songs written and recorded in June/July 2015. Fast forward to 2017 that the band travelled to Poland and worked with Bart Gabriel, a producer that really helped them to create a really strong album. As in Cloven Hoof last release (both via High Roller Records) the production is clean and modern and reminds me of Saxon’s and Accept’s last albums -after 2010-. Mythra have reformed with mostly original members something that gives them a unique bond. Still their ace up the sleeve is the fresh air that the new songs have. It doesn’t sound old school or traditional even if there’s a classic metal aura here and there on ‘Still Burning’. Actually there’s an energy on the songs that makes you wonder which the real age of the band members is. The album is guitar driven, lead by excellent riffs and solos that stick to your mind. Highlights the opener title track, ‘A Call To All’ (excellent N.W.O.B.H.M. hymn), ‘Ride The Storm’, ‘Victory Song’ and the closer ‘Fundamental Extreme’ that links the 2003 recorded songs with the band’s present.

The road through the morass is cumbersome, filthy, sometimes even devious and equally lined with grief and rage. By what dread these four NRWs have gone, one can only guess in the face of these six powerful, tonal negations. Beautifulness is a foreign word. With extremely reduced riffing and mainly downtempo-acting thunder drums, the gentlemen L., F., R., and J. inevitably pull the listener into the depth, from which one either returns cleaned or strengthened or remains mentally evasive. Nevertheless, in their musical histories they seem to be sympathetic at the same time when the three famous "Black Sabbath" tones hide in "Loss". In addition, the character transformation of "Sakkryfyced" is definitely something else - can not always be only "trve" ... (sw)

Until he was about 20, Texas-born Melvin Sparks was a rhythm &
blues guitarist, backing Jackie Wilson, Curtis Mayfield and Marvin Gaye as a member of The Upsetters. But Sparks gave up his seat on The Upsetters' bus in New York City, where a chance introduction to George Benson led him to a place in soul jazz history. Melvin played and recorded with Lou Donaldson, Leon Spencer, Bernard Purdie, Jack McDuff, Jimmy McGriff, Idris Muhammad, Dr. Lonnie Smith, Charles Earland, Grover Washington Jr., Reuben Wilson and so many more. Even during the quietest years of soul-jazz Melvin stayed relevant through hip-hop and r&b;
a quick search at WhoSampled turns up more than 150 samples of his funky chicken scratch. And Melvin's legacy is heard in contemporary soul/funk bands like The New Mastersounds, Soulive and The Greyboy Allstars, all of whom he also guested with several times before his early departure from this realm in 2011. This release documents Melvin's final band just months before his death. Organist Beau Sasser and drummer Bill Carbone had been working with Sparks for several years, and, despite the power dynamic - they were in their early 30s, Melvin an elder-statesmen of the genre - the unit was sharp, relaxed and performed Melvin's music with a jovial spirit. The trio played the Burlington, VT club Nectar's regularly, but this night featured two onlys. Per the recommendation of Nectar's agent they used the Grippo Horns, the only time Sparks used a horn section in the last several years of his life, and they allowed a multitrack recording of the show. Both were strong decisions. The tracks on this album, lovingly mixed by guitarist, producer and Melvin Sparks fan Eddie Roberts, demonstrate that Melvin played as well in the final months of his life as at any time. Sparks counts Whip! Whop! off at what he said The Upsetters called a showtime tempo, and peppers it, as well as most of the album, with quotes from jazz standards, pop songs and cartoon themes, all woven effortlessly into the bebop-funk dialect he helped create. He unfolds amiable melodies, patiently and methodically, through his several-minute lead on Breezin'. And Sparks is audibly uplifted by the Grippo Horns helping him perform his 1973 arrangement of Ain't No Woman for the first time in decades.

This was followed up by the officially released "Let Your Conscience Be Your Guide" a week later. Gaye scored his first real hit with "Stubborn Kind of Fellow" in 1962, which he had co-written himself, joking about his alleged stubbornness. The foundations were now laid for an enormous series of chart successes: "Pride And Joy", "Can I Get A Witness", "How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved By You)" and "Ain't That Peculiar" are all Motown classics from 1963-1965 which are still being regularly played today after all these years. The duets he recorded with Kim Weston ("It Takes Two") and especially Tammi Terrell were certainly at least as good. He scored his biggest ever hit with "I Heard It Through The Grapevine" in 1968. The "What's Going On" from the same named album became a number 1 hit in the USA and the album was received as a masterpiece everywhere and is now regarded as one of the most important records in pop history. In 1973, the artistically and commercially very successful, Let's Get It On album was mainly a musical ode to Marvin's love for his new muse Janis Hunter. The success enjoyed by "Sexual Healing" and the album which was released at the end of 1982, travelled with him. Suddenly Gaye, who had started to increasingly be forgotten about, was a celebrated star again and this was certainly a position the singer revelled in. The pop world lost one of the most important soul singers ever to grace the world on 1st April 1984. He has left behind a series of fantastic hits plus a big handful of tracks which deserve the title of masterpiece, all COLLECTED on this album

Within these was Polish Distro, Fukking Till You Bleed, which released the 2010 Split Tape “Celebrating the World of Decadence” with the band INSIDE HATRED. In 2011, ESCARNIUM recorded the EP called “Rex Verminorum” which was released by Polish label Hellthrasher. In May 2012 their first full length album ”Excruciating Existence” was released and supported by a European Tour. Two other splits would follow in 2012 &
2014 on Imperial Doom and Misanthropic Records.

The release date of the EMERALD album „Reckoning Day“ on limited vinyl edition is April 28th, 2017. The Album will release in a limited Edition of 300 black copies on Double Vinyl with Gatefold and insert. Since their 2007 release „Hymns To Steel“, EMERALD have been part of the Pure Steel family. Within this productive collaboration two more excellent albums („Re-Forged“ (2010) and „Unleashed“ (2012)) were released. The Swiss band has been around for more than 20 years now and is finally ready to present its long-awaited 7th studio album, in a whole new line up. After the departure of singer Thomas L. Winkler it became really quiet around the band since the long-distance collaboration with the new American singer George Call (Aska, ex-Omen) turned out to be very difficult. After two years, EMERALD and George parted ways as friends. This collaboration still resulted in two songs that are now included on the new album “Reckoning Day” (plus one bonus track). A more than worthy replacement on vocals was finally found in the great Swiss singer Mace Mitchell, who refined the remaining songs with his powerful voice and finally finished the record. Those who know EMERALD, know what they will get with „Reckoning Day“: Pounding drums, heavy riffs and melodic leads, reinforced with vigorous Power Metal vocals with balls and a transparent but also very powerful production by V.O. Pulver (Gurd, Poltergeist, Destruction). On the second half of the album, EMERALD integrated a concept called “The Burgundian Wars” which is based on the historical novel “Der Löwe von Burgund” by the band’s keyboarder Thomas Vaucher. On “Reckoning Day” EMERALD celebrate more than 60 minutes of Heavy Metal in its purest form, which will leave no real fan disappointed. Superb! What does the neverland promise? Not much when you look at the cover of "Promises Of No Man's Land", showing a naked, androgynous young man with a flower wreath perched on a bear skin. Musically it looks quite different: the fourth album of the Dutchman Johannes Sigmond aka Blaudzun does not take long to enchant any listener who has a weakness for sensitive yet still thrilling indie folk with dramatic dimensions. Sigmund, for instance, started out as his minimalist Belgian neighbors, Isbells, but he raised the sound to some extent so dizzying heights that one spontaneously wanted to embrace anyone or something. And indeed, according to the title of the title, which completely fulfills the promise of the opener "Euphoria" - with a bombastic arrangement of acoustic as well as electric guitars, piano, strings ensemble, harmonium and other great things. Sigmond sighs and jubilates with the lavish instrumentarium around the bet like Scott Matthew in his longing moments - to be called the magnificent "Hollow People", which himself probably so much to the heart grown, that immediately follows a two-minute recapitulation. And after that, only half of an album is reached, which still contains numerous other delicacies. Soon spring is a great honor. Thomas Pilgrim
