But unlike the helter-skelter out-jazz of Caught on Tape ("Full bore savage highway stuff, the mind exploding with wall melting emotion," says Moore/Moloney about that platter), a set captured during a European junket and split into two untitled marathons, Full Bleed collects nine Herculean sludgefeasts dripping of gnarly metal-damaged heaviosity and punk-jazz skronk-splattered fury, transmitted in an alien language only this duo can convey. "They became songs as they were played," Moore/Moloney explain about their writing process. "Composed on the fiery tongue, like how all real cool improv needs to be experienced." And as far as assigning actual names to the songs? "We titled them to identify them as distinct 'songs' because that is what they need to be to survive in this fucked landscape of politician dung patrol. They became snakes." First proper studio album/widely distributed release from the pairing of Thurston Moore and John Moloney (sometimes known as Caught On Tape). The music is heavy and noisy, yet bears the unmistakably poignant touch of the Sonic Youth mastermind and Sunburned Hand Of The Man legend. Thurston Moore is one of the founders of noise rock, and one of the most idiosyncratic guitarists of all time. John Moloney rose to prominence as the drummer of the psychedelic, ever-prolific Sunburned Hand Of The Man. After their critically acclaimed debut album Look and Behold (2011) and follow-up Monstrorum Historia (2013), Lo!, hailing from Sydney, Australia, are back with a new EP: The Tongueless. 2014 was a big year for Lo! In Australia: the band supported Trivium, In Flames, Corrosion Of Conformity and Torche, to name a few. Besides the massive live presence on their continent, Lo started working on new material, immediately after the departure of former vocalist Jamie-Leigh Smith in late 2013. "Stylistically I aimed for a harsher, more venomous tone as Lo!'s voice", says new vocalist Sam Dillon. "Lyrically I was looking towards themes of extinction and mankind's extreme ignorance towards creatures. The track 'Orca' was inspired by the 'Blackfish' documentary highlighting the history of killer whales in captivity." The songs were originally put together starting with drummer Griffin and guitar player Whitbread instant messaging drum licks and guitar riffs to flesh out ideas... between Hong Kong, where Griffin lives, and Sydney, where the rest of the band is based. The Tongueless was recorded at Adversary Studios in Sydney, mixed by Whitbread himself and mastered by Brad Boatright from Audiosiege (Old Man Gloom, Nails, Baptists). "We kept the recording process as natural as we could - the drums were all tracked live without a click with all of us in the same room", says Whitbread. "We tried to rely on as little processing as possible and really paid attention to nailing the sounds we wanted at the beginning. Vocal wise, Sam prefers to use a handheld mic when recording so we used that approach this time which really added to the natural vibe." One of the refreshing things about this band is the way they weave different styles of music into their own, heavy garment: there are plenty of faster parts, relentlessly driven by heavyhitting rummer Adrian Griffin's extraordinary playing, but there are also slow, doomy, atmospheric passages that suck the listener deep into Lo!'s dark cosmos. "Lo! have come to remind you of glorious times, times when Mastodon were using samples of Jurassic Park to kick off their records", Metal Hammer (UK) wrote about Lo!, and TheMusic.Com.Au adds: "Lo! are our scene's finest proponents of sludgy hardcore and live are akin to a cinder block to the cranium." The band will soon release a video clip for the track Orca, produced by bass player Adrian Shapiro himself, who is a well-known movie producer in Australia. "The video shoot was definitely more professional than we were expecting", says Whitbread. "When director Matt Divine approached us with his idea for the clip, we were expecting it to all be shot in someone's backyard on a Sunday afternoon. But of course Shapiro being a producer there was no way this wasn't going to be done properly and professionally. So we had a full camera and lighting crews, a massive sound stage complete with harnesses and a stunt coordinator." The clip will soon be premiered... watch out! After supporting Cult Of Luna and The Ocean in Europe in 2013, including a performance at Roadburn Festival, here's to hoping that the band will return to our shores with The Tongueless this year

Erik Hall worked patiently and solitarily for four years to craft Driver, his sophomore album as In Tall Buildings. The album comes twenty years after Hall originally fell in love with home recording at age 13 - the year he got his hands on his first multi-track recorder. As a multi-instrumentalist and producer Hall eventually went on to record and tour with several groups, including old friends His Name is Alive and, more recently, dream-pop duo Wild Belle, performing the rhythm section tracks and lending an engineering hand to their Columbia Records debut. In stark contrast to the dense polyrhythms echoed by his former group NOMO's albums, Driver uses a relatively simple palette to create spacious pop songs, leaving plenty of room for Hall's often Peter Gabriel-esque vocals to shine. The music is powerful in it's restrained simplicity, and a compelling foil to the haunting gravity of his vocal performance. Never rushed, his melodies deliver elliptical lyrics that manage to feel intimate, while retaining a sense of mystery. Fortunately, the album's melancholic vibe is relatable, rather than moping or histrionic, and ultimately these songs are incredibly inviting and comforting

We are extremely pleased to present this exclusive new project by the pioneering, genre-splicing Keith K. Hopewell. His previous recordings bear the nom-de-guerre Part 2, the artist/producer for Big Dada/Ninja Tune and one third of the group New Flesh has created his first release since 2006. The project was initially conceived as a sound installation. Inside a dark receptaªcle, his audience were directly exposed to the visceral qualities of bass resonance, resulting from a feedback loop created by two hidden sub-speakers in a conªstructed echoic chamber. Here, the viewer became "the string themselves being stretched and plucked". Hopewell's latest album expands on the ideas explored in his installation, allowªing us the formal comforts of rhythm, through a palette of textures and tantalizing, infrequent plunges into jazz harmony. Myth bw/ Myths & Structures is the opening 12" single, taken from his forthcoming LP Chaoid Systems, where we experience moments of harmonic richness, pressure and rhythm, exploring new possibilities. Having lived, worked, and created in Brooklyn's Williamsburg neighborhood for over a decade, native Texan Travis Johnson has felt the direct impact of the growth and dissolution that comes with rapid gentrification. His band Grooms practiced, and recorded at Brooklyn's Death By Audio for seven years before they were forced out of their spiritual and literal home in November 2014 when DBA shut its doors. With the band's income not providing enough money to support any of it's members, bass player and co-writer Emily Ambruso went on hiatus from the band, leaving Johnson as the only original member. Despite these unfortunate blows, Johnson soldiered on, soon recruiting Jay Heiselmann on bass, and actor/comedian Steve Levine on drums. Unlike their previous album Infinity Caller (which Speedy Ortiz's Sadie Dupuis called "...an exercise in explosion and restraint hallmarked by sweeping guitars, stuttery drums, and cryptic, airy vocals...") Comb... brings the band's rhythm section to the fore, and Johnson's trademark guitar stylings often take a backseat to his psychedelic sample-collages and ambient electronics. Fortunately the new approach works, balancing pop structures with masterful experimental production that shifts in tone and color in harmony with Johnson's tales of acceptance, loneliness, and impotent violence.

Geins't Naït is a project initiated in 1986 with a first album released by Thierry Merigout (drummer with Kas Product on their 1981 tour) and Vincent Hachet, who quickly stepped back from this project to work on his film-maker career. The L'or'n Cät album's release in 1987 marked the arrival of Laurent Petitgand, a singer-songwriter recognized for his composing work for (the late French singer) Bashung and original soundtracks for film directors such as Wim Wenders (including Tokyo-Ga, 1985, Wings of Desire, 1986, and the future The Salt of the Earth, scheduled in 2014), Paul Auster (The Inner Life of Martin Frost), as well as ballet music for Angelin Preljocaj (Liqueurs de Chair, Amer America). Bases are thus set down. While Geins't Naït offers rough pieces of music as an extension of its punk attitude which deeply moved the Berlin scene years ago, Laurent Petitgand is busy refining them and creating some musicality within the post-industrial collages, adding guitars, piano or any classical instrument. In 1993, following the release of C/O Lisa on the Permis de Construire label, noise gave way to a silence that lasted 20 years. Coming from nowhere, Si j'avais su, j'aurais rien dit, a particularly tormented album which, against all odds, revived the project in 2011. An album which showed an increasing alchemy between the two musicians whose different routes, this common project aside, seem to fit perfectly well now. Now, and more than ever, the duo's approach is based on an in-depth field. To sharpen the sounds, give them some kind of balance, a density and a mark. More than anything else, to make sure that music is a langage, an experience in the deeper meaning of the term. In its form, the collaboration between Geins't Naït and Laurent Petitgand echoes the adventurous musics from the eighties and is the French counterpoint to experimental british scenes (Coil, Current 93, Test Dept) and german scenes (Einstürzende Neubauten, Sprung Aus Den Wolken), so much so that this new work is difficult to label in its totality, entering ambient or industrial fields, as well as minimalist or repetitive music. Je vous dis is obvious in its ability for listeners to give life to the smallest element which is part of it, would it be a sample, a piano melody, or even the amazing work on voices, which, as well as instrumentation, assume a central part in the tracks balance. Melancholic, with a retained violence, sometimes even with a fearsome violence, Je vous dis surprises and captivates in its way to subtly catch the listener, thanks to a disturbing nocturnal mood, but also to an unsettling humanity. But this record is far from being an hermetical work : it's quite the opposite. Difficulty is not to get in this world, however particular or deviant it is, but to get out. More than just music, Je vous dis is a visceral obsession about detail, a sound sculpture with changing forms and various aspects, an unsleeping creature with inscrutable soul. As soon as one believes to have understood it, the next listening brings the listener back into doubt and questions. As in a situationist movie for which that album would be a perfect soundtrack, each complete immersion offers its lot of news interpretations and details, with were unkown until now but are definitively obvious in the end. A real masterpiece for the mind : complex, poetic and sophisticated, even in its darkest moments.

Toronto-based electronic musician and producer David Psutka launches his "Halocline Trance" label with his third LP under the experimental club project, Egyptrixx. Marking 5 years of output, the album features graphic and video design from longtime collaborator, Berlin-based artist ANF, and elaborates the structural ideas from their collaborative album "A/B til Infinity" (Night Slugs, 2013). The music is primitive, minimalist - fixated mainly on texture and weight. Smudged facsimiles of club music;
crude and abstract grooves. The record starts with cleansing drones then lapses into a fractured digital melody. Toggling between metallic shards of DX7, drum machine blast beats and grandiose, hyper-color drones - its strange cohesion of disparate objects suggesting a novel synchronicity. Like all Egyptrixx releases, "Transfer of Energy [Feelings of Power]" pivots on a central dichotomy: tranquility and concussion. Picture Genocide Organ rededicated to pure positivity or spectral love notes to aging infrastructure. These are concrete and euphoric slabs of sound.

Cities of Light is F.E. Dennings vinyl debut and it is his best work to date. The compositions aswell as the emotions are more complex than before and with his signature of endless pools of synth drones and melodies cascading on each other, he draws out a perfectly paranoid image of a modern metropolis. The equal measures of beauty and horror that occupy the modern sleepless machine cities, is presented in a blurred narrative over the records five pieces. Cities of Light feels neither for or against the concept of mega city that it displays, the record feels more like someone accepting the state of things, accepting that soon the sunrise will be broadcasted on billboards because of smog layers. Accepting that even with millions and millions of people there are no familiar faces appearing in the masses. That the city has become an organism of its own and that any fighting against it has already been intergrated in its system. Cities of Light is a beautiful and cinematic drone record, a new level for the work of F. E. Denning and a very precise portray of how it feels to be alone with millions around you.

Yannick Dauby is a sound artist based in Taiwan since 2007. He relentless explores the soundscapes of his adopted island through field recording, audio documentaries and community projects He has created soundtracks and sound environments for contemporary dance, public art and films as well as being involved in various ecological and local traditional activities. Dauby stayed in Peng-Hu, an archipelago located in the Taiwan strait during several months in the first half of 2013. His daily activities included beachcombing, study and documentation of the reef animals, field recording, some teaching and also composing musique concrète in a temporary and probably the first experimental music studio,. From this old building he could hear the seashores and announcements of the itinerant sellers as well as the rituals from a temple nearby. Immersed in this environment, Yannick composed the two sides of this record, using the sounds of the underwater fauna, the omnipresent waves, soundscapes of harbours, music played during funerals, shortwave radio broadcasts, in-site or indoor improvisations using old artefacts and various sessions using analog electronic instruments

S. Carey is the project of Sean Carey of Bon Iver. Recorded primarily during the perigee-syzygy (also known as the super moon) of August 2014, the Supermoon EP from S. Carey is a study in scale, space, and proximity. These songs are a new and closer look into existing works from both S. Carey's renowned full-lengths, 2010's All We Grow and 2014's Range of Light. With Supermoon, Carey has broken these songs down to their essential, acoustic parts with his forever humming vocals laid over top, lilting yet percussive piano, and a subtle swath of harmonic strings. You can hear Carey's breath between words and the pat of his fingers on the keys;
you can hear the living room in which his family's baby grand piano sits. These songs are beautiful, intimate and so potently personal. This collection is a stark presentation of S. Carey laid bare, an open invitation for the listener to climb into his world. One particularly poignant piece is the re-imagined Range of Light closer, "Neverending Fountain," perhaps an apt metaphor for the life of the songs themselves. Says Carey, "The longer you spend with a song, the more you can see it in its pure form." Supermoon also features a heartrending cover of "Bullet Proof.. I Wish I Was" from Radiohead's classic album The Bends, and a new song, the EP's namesake, "Supermoon," which takes its inspiration, like much of Carey's work, from the natural world around him. Another source of inspiration quoted by Carey is the excitement of working out arrangements for pre-existing songs on the spot, for various sessions on tour. He brought that spirit to the recording of Supermoon, which took place over the course of a single weekend. Already known as an artist of impeccable craft, S. Carey worked with long-time friends and collaborators (Mike Noyce played viola, Zach Hanson engineered, mixed, and mastered) to add a chapter to the still unfolding story of Sean Carey as an artist. We can hear the songwriting, singing and performance for what it truly is;
