Мария Викторовна Макарова закончила Московскую консерваторию в 1992 г. В 1994 г. прошла ассистентуру–стажировку по классу органа у профессора Н.Н.Гуреевой. Её репертуар охватывает музыку трех столетий от предшественников И.С.Баха до современных композиторов. На настоящем диске представлены сочинения ХУШ и Х1Х веков. В начале звучит хорошо известная Токката и фуга ре минор И.С.Баха. Затем одно из самых значительных философских сочинений Р.Шумана – Шесть фуг на тему Бах, посвященных великому немецкому кантору. Далее «Воспоминание о Сикстинской капелле» - яркое романтическое сочинение знаменитого венгерского композитора Ф.Листа. Завершает программу одно из самых развернутых и драматичных произведений Баха – Прелюдия и Фуга ми минор. Запись сделана в 2005 г. в Тверской областной филармонии на органе «Ригерклосс».

The organist Pier Damiano Peretti - living in Vienna since 2009 as a teacher at the Universität (formerly Hochschule) für Musik und darstellende Kunst - on this CD is tackling the very difficult organ pages of the well-known composer from Puglia, Biagio Putignano. Peretti performs on the 1995 Mathis organ, located in the Scottekirche in Vienna, alongside soprano Marie-Antoinette Stabentheiner. So, it seemed therefore logical in the conception of this CD, to counterpoint the poetry of the 'new Middle Ages' (U. Eco) obbligato music by Biagio Putignano, with excerpts from the earliest surviving Italian keyboard music collection, the 1420 Faenza Codex: secular intabulations of great ingenuity. For the performance of these pieces, Peretti uses an organ from the Neapolitan School of the eighteenth century belonging to St. Ursula Kirche in Vienna.

In his short life (1839–72) Eduard Adolf Tod garnered a reputation as one of the finest organists of the day: Liszt praised his playing, and he gave a recital in the Royal Albert Hall in the very year of its opening. Most of Tod’s handful of works for the organ – solo and as a duo partner – have not been recorded before. Here they are joined by three other little-known German organ sonatas – by Ludwig Thuille, Carl Reinecke and August Ritter – to give an overview of the genre as it evolved from its well-behaved Mendelssohnian origins into late-Romantic grandeur.

Nicolas de Grigny (1672-1703), died at the age of 31 without bequeathing everything his genius let hope for, considered one of the greatest masters of the organ, composed only one Organ Book (1699) called ‘Premier’, consisting of a Mass and five Hymns for various Church festivals. Johann Sebastian Bach, a fervent admirer, discovered his music, during his youth and copied his entire work with would influence – as much as Buxtehude’s, then later Frescobaldi’s – his own organ work. The new release of this recording from 1992 on the historical organ of Saint-Michel-en-Thiérache pays tribute to the great organist André Isoir who died in 2016.
