Finally available again, Music On Vinyl is pressing the first 500 individually numbered copies on transparent green vinyl.

There’s a real sense of time and space to Sea’s new release: ‘The Grip of Time’, which rides retro waves like the eighties is still on the horizon and Rock still rules the oceans. Taking the histrionic and emotive ‘Rust’ as an elongated call to arms we really get going with ‘Once we Were Dead’ which poses the heaviest question on the back of guitars spelt out like Rival Sons. Indeed those Americans aren’t too bad a touchstone if you upgrade the groove from rock to something altogether more metallic. That’s not to say Sea is a Metal band at all such a tag in the sense we think of it today has yet to be invented after all. Far more brooding is ‘Time Will Let You Know’ a song that you might call dark, yet really it’s just good solid hard rock. ‘Shout’ adds an unexpected lightness with its rolling groove and guitar stabs, it’s probably the most representative take on their influences – hard riffs, strong vocals and an innate sense of purpose and as it builds you feel the air in the roo move. For a band with such a raw sound you can imagine them taking the stage sounding pretty much as they do here: ‘No Dawn’ may take things down a notch but it’s just as focussed and has a vibe and guitar sound not unlike Thin Lizzy’s quieter moments, with a weeping classic rock refrain. ‘Back to the Ground’ ups the ante, then drifts back, smoky and atmospheric before striking out again. ‘Sing For Your Right’ on the other hand brings the Blues and that Rival Sons flavour finds its way into your mouth again. It’s a solid middle section to what is turning into a great album. The last three tracks are in truth three of the most memorable, as the stabbing riff to ‘Dust Will Fall’ hits you’re reminded of the swagger of the hard rock behemoths of yesteryear. There’s no sense of anything as trite as NWOBHM here just the sense that the band has listened to the same formative influences and absorbed them. ‘The Stranger Within’ on the other hand is the band at their most rocking and raucous, all insistent vocals and wailing guitars it has a sense of urgency and purpose as it unfolds. The last word goes to ‘Sea’ which takes its title from the band name itself, it’s a gentle melodic almost delicate piece that seems to be the calm after the storm. Sea might just turn out to be a very important band indeed.

However, no recordings were released until Basta did include two versions on Manhattan Research, Inc. The track became one of Scott's most popular electronic compositions: The track was recently featured in the Netflix hit-series Narcos (S2E10), opens the documentary "Best Of Enemies" and underscored a recent Gucci ad campaign. Hundreds of videos on YouTube and Vimeo use this composition as a soundtrack. So like with many of Scott's compositions underscoring countless WB's cartoons, chances are one has heard this tune without realizing it was Scott's music. On this album "Portofino" is interpreted by 20 artists, each version uniquely arranged, recorded and produced in an array of styles: surf guitar, whistling, electronica, chamber ensemble, minimalism, pop, rock guitar, and scat vocals. There are even two song versions with original lyrics, as well as two Scott original recordings that are only present on this vinyl version. The album features contributions from none other than Fay Lovsky, Jacco Gardner, JB Meijers (Common Linnets), Aim, Arling &
Cameron, Metropole Orchestra and Davide Rossi, who worked with Goldfrapp, Coldplay, The Verve and many more. A couple of other artists make their recording debut on the album. The result is a nice blend of recordings, with so much variation;
it's easy to forget sometimes one is listening to the same composition. The album cover art was adapted from a 1962 unpublished painting entitled "Portofino" by noted artist/illustrator James (Jim) Flora. The original Flora painting is reproduced in the LP's gatefold.

His collaboration with musicians from different backgrounds were successful leading up to recording (the Bob Dylan written) "I'll Be Your Baby Tonight" with English reggae band UB40. This single became a worldwide hit, reaching the top 10 in Holland and United Kingdom, as well as achieving solid chart positions in the USA, Germany and France. Sadly the musical genius and true superstar Robert Palmer passed away, succumbing to a heart attack in 2003, only 54 years old.

They're called MUSCLE and come from bands of the french garage scene (Dividers, Crank !, Gas Gaz). They randomly choose that stupid name as they were browsing a fitness magazine. Garage punk is in their DNA, but as they come from the south of France, they enjoy spicy dishes: a pinch of pop, a few drops of Lo-Fi and two good pods of post-something, it only remains to serve with a fresh rosé, a Collioure preferably. In the authorized circles, the experts refer to the Intelligence, undoubtedly because of the robotic beat of certain pieces, but fuck the arty sound and faces of Seattle geeks, we're dealing with boiling and passionate rock here! Offgrid:Offline was released as a download only within the band’s 5CD box set, These Things. The vinyl is a limited edition of 500 (Transparent blue vinyl) and includes a download with 3 previously unreleased tracks, Our Own Way Home, (the original song that became the intro and outro on the album, and the melodic theme that occurs throughout), Lucky Tui and The Back Roads. Looper emerged from Belle and Sebastian in 1997, when Stuart David (co-founder and bass player of Belle and Sebastian) and his wife Karn (an artist who directed the early Belle videos) collaborated for a show at Glasgow School of Art. A degree show fundraiser for Stuart’s sister Karla Black – who received a Turner Prize nomination in 2011- the performance was a multi-media affair incorporating TVs, super 8 film, 35mm slides and kinetic sculptures. Since nothing broke down and everyone clapped, they decided to keep doing it. The band went on release four albums via Sub Pop, Jeepster and Mute, with many of their tracks appearing in film, including Mondo 77 which appeared in Cameron Crowe's Vanilla Sky. After a break from music for a few years, Karn went back to art school to study animation and Stuart turned his focus to studying literature and writing novels, a move to the remote countryside, post-study, prompted the creation of a new body of work. Offgrid:Offline, the band’s fifth studio album, was the result - these new songs and stories, inspired by the return to peace and quiet and influenced by indie-folk music saw Looper conscious of the very different styles of previous albums. They set out to bring together elements of each into this new work. Structured like the first album, around a recurring melody, Offgrid:Offline is thematically centred on the spoken word piece which gives the album its title, drawing together the musical motifs and lyrical themes from throughout.

Completely performed at home in Tel Aviv, with his piano as his only companion, "Bedroom Crimes" is an exploration of the intimate and human frailties that remind us of Leonard Cohen's "Songs of Love and Hate". This two-act album is like "a series of paintings that take place in a room, the place where one finds oneself facing oneself, and which show emotional crimes such as fear, jealousy, pain, The hatred. ". Regarding the collaboration with Vanessa Paradis, Oren comments, "I was always very moved by her. I was a fan of French culture in general and I grew up listening to Jacques Brel and Georges Brassens. 'Did You Really So No' was originally written as a duet for a man and a woman, telling one story from two different points of view. I asked my publisher if we could send it to Vanessa, who responded with enthusiasm. I met her in Paris and I played the piano and she sang. In two hours it was done!" Bedroom Crimes is an 11-track collection of organic arrangements highlighted by elegant piano, and celestial strings. Produced entirely by Lavie at home, he comments: "For me the album is like a series of paintings of people in their bedrooms: eleven songs are eleven scenes: isolated moments in which a crime of the heart is being committed. When I say 'a crime' I mean the feelings we often hide from the people close to us, or those we passively project upon them, like fear, jealousy, hate... and also love."
