Brand new release on the Analog Africa label. This release constitues the entire discography of Hamad Kalkaba. Neglected for decades by all but the most devoted collectors of Afro music, Hamad Kalkaba and the Golden Sounds at long last gathers together the body of work of one of Cameroon's forgotten geniuses. Unlike many musicians who emerged from nowhere, recorded a few singles and vanished again, Kalkaba hadn't disappeared. Far from it. He was a distinguished public figure, a retired Colonel in the army of Cameroon, and a former member of Cameroon's Olympic Selection Committee. He was tracked down serving as president of the Confederation of African Athletics. And Although Kalkaba's job kept him busy, and he seemed initially dismissive of the music he'd made as a young man, he turned out to be an enthusiastic ally in this project. He arranged interviews, helped fill in the blanks and provided photographs, lyric sheets and notes. During the interview Kalkaba explained how the songs recorded in the mid 1970s were part of a movement, a movement initiated by musicians from all around Cameroon who, with the help of keyboards, drum kits and electric guitars, had started to modernize the traditional rhythms of their regions. For Kalkaba it was no different and backed by his band the Golden Sounds, devoted himself to the promotion of the sounds of northern Cameroon.

So, with the Pirates being the RAMONES diehards we are, it was a no-brainer!Without a label deal, CJ wrote and recorded his debut solo album, Reconquista, the old school, DIY way, with assistance from Steve Soto of the Adolescents and a number of other punk rock luminaries lending their musical chops. With an album that had the honesty and sound that so many Ramones copycats just never got right, along with instant classics like 'What We Gonna Do Now' and his heartwarming tribute to Joey, Johnny and Dee Dee, 'Three Angels,' CJ Ramone cemented his place in Ramones history. And it was only the beginning.In 2014, CJ hooked up with our friends down the street in San Francisco at Fat Wreck Chords. This afforded us the opportunity to see him more often and we got to talking about some special editions of his previous albums, in preparation for the intense touring schedule that was approaching. While Reconquista had been out of print for years and was an easy call, we thought Last Chance To Dance and American Beauty deserved the beautiful and collectible picture disc treatment too. With the blessing from Fat, we gathered new art for the b-side of each picture disc and put together this incredible set.As CJ has hit three continents so far this year (North America, Europe, Australia) and has two more still to go (South America, Asia), he took a small break to play a special set at our big Rock The Ship festival. We thought this was the perfect opportunity to move these picture disc sets from a 'tour-only' edition to worldwide availability. Keep in mind that these picture discs are strictly limited to 1,000 of each title, and will not be re-pressed

My interest grew slowly until it became a collection of records, CDs and taped VHS. This then evolved into experiments, sampling and chopping WAVs on free versions of WaveLab. In 2003 this became an MPC 2000XL. I was living in Los Angeles at the time so I had started going to shows and hanging out with people who shared similar interests. We all began to gather and learn together. Records became beats which became freestyle sessions, songs, laughter and much coughing. After several years I returned to Tokyo and it’s been 10 years since I have been back. I still make beats the same way. Going off of feeling I would get when I hear a record. Coloured 12''. Copenhagen's Echocord Colour returns this mid November with Brendom Moeller's 'Magic City' EP, featuring four originals from the New York based artist. Brendon Moeller has long been a purveyor of authentic dub-infused Techno since stepping onto the scene via his 2006 'Sweetspot / Humpback' EP via Echocord and has since gone on to release on reputable imprints such as Third Ear, Kimochi Sound, Delsin's Ann Aimee, Mule Musiq and of course his very own Steadfast. Here though Moeller makes a welcome return to where it all began with some fresh material for Echocord's Colour sub- label. 'Caravan' takes the lead on the release and in typical Brendon Moeller fashion we're treated to densely layered dub chords, throbbing subs and expansive atmospherics whilst robust drums drive the composition along. Magic City' follows and ups the energy levels even further with pounding industrial drums layered underneath billowing dub stabs and eerie drones. 'Magic City In Dub' follows and as the name suggests offers up a reduced take on the composition, dropping the tempo and shining light on the billowing echoes of the original whilst stirring in some off-kilter rhythsm and additional processing for good measure. Lastly, 'Departure' closes the package, with haunting synth drones, bumpy rhythms and murky vocals wandering throughout the seven-minute composition.

Umbra ", the first full-length album of the Icelander ALMYRKVI offers from the first note on dragging, intensive and lead-heavy tones that do not seem to be from this earth. You feel kidnapped into strange deep-black galaxies, only the punctuated clear vocals provide a few shimmering lights in the oppressive darkness. The songs seem complex - but they are catchy, if you get fully involved with them. There is no room for superficiality here, ALMYRKVI on "Umbra" offer anything but light food, but once you have understood the message, you will be carried away by the energy and dynamics of the music uncompromisingly. Friends of blastbeat orgies should be warned here, however, such passages will be searched for in vain on "Umbra". It's hard to give tips for playing, because the pieces form such a self-contained unit, from which you don't want to tear out a single part. This masterpiece is rounded off by a perfect sound that concentrates on the essentials and avoids any artificial frills. For all those who have now licked blood, it should be noted that ALMYRKVI will perform together with SINMARA and some other congenial bands at the Celebrare Noctem festival in the Alte Schlachthof in Wels on 02.12.2017. Conclusion: Not a work for the masses, but anyone who is willing to deal with music outside the mainstream of metal can and should do so without hesitation!
